I have just published Judgment Seat, a seventeen page short story about a man facing that much dreaded activity known as Jury Selection. Some of us may even enjoy the prospect of being selected as a juror, but most of us have other activities we deem more profitable, pleasurable, or interesting.
The main character, Marcus Cuilty, has a unique reason to avoid being selected, beyond the garden variety of making a living, prior appointments, and the like. He presents to the judge what Marcus believes is an iron-clad reason not to serve on the jury of an upcoming criminal trial.
